<p>A 19-year-old girl committed suicide by consuming poison on Wednesday on Triveni Road in Yeshwantpur.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Police suspect Sushmitha, a Second PUC student, took the extreme step after her boyfriend refused to marry her. She was in a relationship with 17-year-old Bharath (name changed) whom she had met through a common friend. On Tuesday, Bharath asked her for a physical relationship, but she refused. Irked, he said he would not marry her and walked away. An upset Sushmitha consumed poison around 1.30pm on Tuesday. In the evening, her parents found her unconscious and rushed her to a hospital. Her condition deteriorated and she died early on Wednesday, police said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Sushmitha’s relatives thrashed Bharath before he was handed over to the police. Police have not recovered any suicide note. </p>
