<p>Ushering into the New Year, the Congress-JDS government stoked a fresh controversy on the very first day of the year by announcing to rekindle the controversial steel flyover project that was scrapped by the previous Congress government.</p>.<p>Reviving the project that had previously dented the reputation of Congress government in Bengaluru, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Tuesday said that the government is considering taking up the project yet again by consulting the public.</p>.<p>Addressing media person at the Sadashivanagar BDA quarters Parameshwara said that the government has decided to take up the stalled steel flyover project in the interest of the public. “The previous Congress government had made elaborate plans to execute the project. But as the project met with intense public criticism we had to drop the project. But now we have decided to take up the project all over again by consulting the public,” Parameshwara said.</p>.<p>Explaining further, the deputy chief minister opined that the stretch between Chalukya Circle and Esteem Mall would indeed require a steel bridge. “A few had opposed the project politically and hence it was stopped half-way-through. Currently, we will place all the details pertaining to the project in the public domain including the cost, purpose and use of the project. We will invite their opinions as well and only thereafter the government will take a final call on the implementation of the project,” he justified.</p>.<p>The DCM also defended that people require about 45 minutes to reach the airport from Chalukya Circle. “The steel flyover will reduce the travelling time to just 20 minutes and the government is ready to clear any confusions pertaining to the project,” DCM pointed.</p>
