<p>The urban homeless survey carried out by the civic body and its partners in most parts of the city has revealed that homeless people are less in peripheral areas.</p>.<p>The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and representatives of Impact IndiaConsortium and Dream India Network have conducted the survey in core areas like East, West and South zones, while survey in the four peripheral zones of Mahadevapura, Yelahanka, Dasarahalli and Rajarajeshwarinagar was launched last week.</p>.<p>Officials have begun the survey in Bommanahalli zone on Tuesday night.</p>.<p>Among the peripheral areas, Mahadevapura has 386 homeless people, while Yelahanka has 211. RR Nagar has 171 and Dasarahalli 104, bringing the total number of homeless in all the four zones to 872.</p>.<p>In the core areas, the survey identified 3,991 homeless people. While the West Zone has 1,526 people, the South Zone has 1,255 and the East 1,210.</p>.<p>Convener of Impact India Consortium TD Sampath told DH that the survey will be carried out in Bomanahalli Zone for three days from Tuesday since there was a delay in obtaining orders. He said the number of homeless in this area is expected to be not more than 150.</p>.<p>BBMP’s additional commissioner (admin) Randeep D said: “We’ve been working to provide shelters to the homeless people. Some people in the core areas will get homes this month.”</p>.<p>Randeep also said not many homeless people were expected to be found in the peripheral areas.</p>
