<p>Assailants robbed and strangled a 59-year-old man to death in Yelahanka New Town on Friday night.</p>.<p>Venkatapathi, a landlord, left home in his car, but did not return, prompting anxious family members to register a missing person complaint with the Sampigehalli police.</p>.<p>The murder came to light when a few passersby found Venkatapathi's body lying on the roadside and alerted the police. The Yelahanka New Town police identified the victim with the physical description given by the family.</p>.<p>Family members, who rushed to the spot and confirmed the deceased as Venkatapathi, said four rings, a bracelet and a gold chain along with a Rado watch were missing.</p>.<p>The police also found his car abandoned a kilometre away, from where they found the body. They suspect it to be a murder for gain and have filed a case of murder and robbery.</p>.<p>Venkatapathi owns a few acres of land in Sampigehalli worth several crores, the police said.</p>
