<p>The high court has held that for a gas station to function within the limits of the city, it has to obtain a trade licence from the municipal corporation concerned.</p>.<p>The court was hearing a petition filed by a gas company challenging the order of closure of its LPG dispensing station named 'Total Gas Auto' issued by the BBMP for functioning without a trade licence.</p>.<p>Sipani Energy Limited, Total Gas Auto, located at T Mariyappa Road in Jayanagar, had filed the petition.</p>.<p>The court disposed of the petition while upholding the corporation's contention citing the provisions of Section 353 of the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act 1976.</p>.<p>The petitioner contended that they do not need a licence to operate under the Petroleum Act. </p>.<p>However, the court stated that there is no requirement for a no objection certificate from the public, but the municipal corporation will have to consider any objections if raised by the public.</p>
