<p>District In-charge Secretary Anbu Kumar directed the district administration to initiate works on building protective walls and stormwater drains to prevent landslides during the next monsoon.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking at a meeting held at the DC’s office here on Tuesday, he said that landslides are expected to occur in the coming rainy season if the protective measures are not implemented.</p>.<p class="bodytext">There are complaints regarding the slow pace of works in the preventive and compensatory measures taken by officials concerned. The department concerned should not ignore the works, said Kumar.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“The government has already released the required funds to the departments. The district administration should ensure that the works are carried out transparently. There is no room for mistakes,” he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He directed the engineers to complete all works within the next five months.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Priority should be given to roads, school buildings, anganwadi and related works. Pictures showing the progress of work on minor and major irrigation projects and other projects in the jurisdiction of Urban Development Department should be uploaded on the National Informatics Centre (NIC) website along with details, he instructed.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Deputy Commissioner P I Sreevidya said that a survey on the loss of crops had been taken up. The officials should keep track of the information and follow up on whether any farmers are left out.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Zilla Panchayat CEO K Lakshmipriya, assistant commissioner T Javaregowda, DCF Manjunath, PWD assistant executive engineer Natesh and ZP executive engineer Revannanavar were present in the meeting among others.</p>
