<p class="title">Deputy Commissioner Charulata Somal issued strict directions to the officials to implement the government guidelines with regard to the control of the second wave of Covid-19.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A trend of an increasing number of Covid-19 cases has been observed in Kodagu district as well, she said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Chairing a meeting held at DC’s office hall in Madikeri on Tuesday, the Charulata Somal requested the people to follow all precautionary measures.</p>.<p class="bodytext">She also told the officials concerned to take stern measures against those who do not wear masks and fail to observe social distancing.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“Serious action should also be initiated against people producing fake Covid-19 negative report. The officials at the check post should be alert and monitor properly. If the primary and secondary contacts of the infected do not cooperate, action should be initiated as per the relevant act. More caution should be maintained at Karike, Makutta and Kutta check posts,” she added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Charulata Somal asked the public to cooperate with the health department personnel while undergoing Covid-19 tests and while receiving the vaccine.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The number of people at family functions and public functions should not exceed the prescribed limit set by the government. Social distancing is a must at homestays, tourist spots and shandy markets. Police personnel should visit such places to ensure that the rules are not violated, she said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Producing of Covid-19 negative report as per the RT-PCR test, at the borders, is compulsory for the people coming from Kerala and Maharashtra, she added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The deputy commissioner further said that the officials have been instructed to achieve the target in the Covid-19 vaccination drive. Noting that there is a lack of information among people on vaccination, she directed the officials to convince the people of the importance of vaccination.</p>.<p class="bodytext">She said that additional staff should be deployed at the Covid Care Centres if needed.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Superintendent of Police Kshama Mishra said that the police department has taken all necessary steps towards the control of the pandemic.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The police department will work in coordination with other government departments, she added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Zilla Panchayat CEO Bhanwar Singh Meena said more awareness will be created on the Covid-19 second wave, in the Gram Panchayat limits.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He directed Taluk Panchayat executive officers and Gram Panchayat development officers to work in coordination towards the same.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Additional Deputy Commissioner Shrinivas, Assistant Commissioner Ishwar Kumar, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr K Mohan and RCH officer Dr Gopinath were present among others.</p>.<p><strong>25 new Covid-19 cases in Kodagu</strong></p>.<p>A total of 25 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the district on Tuesday. As many as 10 cases were from Madikeri taluk, six in Somwarpet taluk and nine in Virajpet taluk. </p>.<p>The total number of Covid-19 cases in the district so far is 6,317, out of which 6,168 have recovered. Currently, there are 67 active cases in the district. </p>
