<p>Over 600 children residing in 10 different orphanage schools in and around the city had an eventful Sunday to remember and cherish.</p>.<p class="bodytext">It was a day to experience freedom and relaxation, mingling freely, rejoicing, playing and dancing with one another.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Rotary Club of Mangaluru Central, in association with the Rotaract Club of Mangaluru City, organised their 20th annual Orphanage Olympics – a sports and cultural meet – at Canara High School, Urwa. The event provided a platform for children to showcase their hidden skills in sports and their talent in cultural activities.</p>.<p class="bodytext">There was sack race, book balancing contest, frog jump, lemon and spoon, and running race, as part of the event.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Dr Bhaskar Shetty, chairman and managing director of City Hospital, in his inaugural address, lauded the community services rendered by the Rotary Club.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Dr Devdas Rai, chairman of the organising committee, said that the event was a part of their community service. Ranganath Bhat, Rotary district governor-elect, distributed the prizes.</p>
