<p class="title">Dakshina Kannada district with a total pass percentage of 91.4 in second year Pre-University examination results was ranked second among the districts in the state.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In the previous academic year, the district had topped the list with 91.41 pass percentage. The district had secured second position in 2016-17 by registering 89.92 pass percentage. The pass percentage in 2015-16 was 90.48; 2014-15--93.09%, 2013-14--86.04% and 2012-13--85.88%.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A total of 38,069 students had appeared for the examinations of which, 33,088 had passed, thus registering 86.92%. Out of 38,069 students appeared, 19,153 are boys.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A total of 34,650 freshers had appeared of which 31,500 have passed. Out of 2,334 students who appeared privately, 1,220 have passed. A total of 1,085 repeaters had appeared for the exam and 368 have passed.</p>.<p class="bodytext">As many as 15,948 boys and 17,140 girls have passed the exam in the district. Out of 2,305 SC students, 1906 (82.69%)have passed, out of 1,243 ST students, 1,071 (86.16%) had passed.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In the Arts stream, 4,831 students had appeared and 3,762 students had passed. In Commerce stream, 16,526 students had appeared and 14,347 had passed. In Science stream, 16,712 students had appeared and 14,979 had passed.</p>.<p class="CrossHead">100% results</p>.<p class="bodytext">Students of Vikas PU College in Mangaluru secured 100% results in Commerce stream with an overall percentage of 99.52% (all subjects). A total of 41 students secured full marks in various subjects and 20 students secured 95% and above in all the subjects.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A total of 418 students appeared in the annual examinations and 189 students among them had passed with distinction. 220 students had cleared the examination with first class.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Puttur Vivekananda and Narendra PU College’s overall pass percentage stood at 93.5%. Jagrathi J Nayak topped the district in science stream.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Other toppers are Ashwija P S (586), Nishchal Rai (589 in commerce), Yashwitha (588 in commerce). A total of 1,080 students had appeared for the exam, of which 253 had passed with distinction and 587 students with first class.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A total of 534 students in St Philomena PU College, Puttur had appeared for the exam and 70 students had passed with distinction and 265 students with first class.</p>.<p class="bodytext">About 99% of the students of Expert PU College, Kodialbail, and Expert PU College, Valachil, have passed in first class in this year’s 2nd PU Board exams.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A total of 853 students have passed with distinction, 97 students have scored more than 95% marks and 481 students have scored more than 90%.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Some of the toppers are Maneesh Sriram - 589 marks, Meera B N - 589, Ankit Vishal Pandit - 588, Bhuvan V B - 587, Drashti Patel - 586, Amoolya Angadi - 586, Aishwarya Bhat - 585 and Arun R Bhat - 585.
