<p>BJP leader and former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa on Tuesday said that his party will not keep quite if the state government goes ahead with the Tipu Jayanthi celebrations.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Eshwarappa said, “We urge the government to drop the celebrations. However, if they go ahead, we as the principal opposition party, know what to do.”</p>.<p class="bodytext">Eshwarappa said in the past too there had been an opposition to the celebrations.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Earlier in the day, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara had said the government will hold Tipu Jayanthi celebrations across the state next month.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The BJP had made it a poll issue during the Assembly polls held earlier this year.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Meanwhile, speaking after inaugurating Dasara at Srirangapatna in Mandya district, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that BJP leaders oppose Tipu Jayanthi ahead of elections.</p>
