<p>Mangled vehicles seized in accidents that are dumped near the War Memorial in Kadri is an eyesore. They would be relocated after obtaining orders from the jurisdictional court, Mangaluru Police Commissioner T R Suresh said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Suresh stated so during a phone-in-programme organised at his office on Friday. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The police commissioner said that there was a shortage of land to park such vehicles. “The commissionerate has urged the government to provide land. “But none is sanctioned so far,” he added. The commissioner replied to caller Ganesh of Urwa Market who commented that the area resembled a junkyard. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Suresh said that in many accident cases, the original registration certificate would not be in the possession of the permit holder. The owners in many instances had not turned up to claim the vehicles.</p>.<p class="bodytext">With the number of such cases on the rise, the police are now disposing unclaimed vehicles on the spot without bringing it to the police station. Suresh said that the commissionerate would urge NHAI to provide a proper service road near Thokkottu highway.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Mahadev from Falnir pointed out that the debris from a construction site was dumped on the footpath opposite to Athena Hospital, Falnir. Though the issue was raised in the previous phone-in programme, it remained unresolved, he rued. Residents complained that the service road in Kottara Chowki was pothole-ridden.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Residents demanded deployment of more traffic cops at Kavoor junction. They expressed concern over speeding private buses in Mulki-Kinnigoli route. Hasanabba from Konaje said buses under JNURM, from State Bank circle to Talapady, had stopped plying.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Uday Kumar from Kodikal said buses (route number 61 bound from Mangaluru to Kodikal) and Bus (number 16) on Gorigudda-Kodikal route had stopped coming to Kodikal for a week.</p>.<p class="bodytext">B M Baliga from Bejai-Kapikad sought action against over speeding bike riders. A pedestrian was killed after being knocked down by an over-speeding bike recently opposite KSRTC bus stand at Bejai, he pointed out. Santhosh from Thokkottu complained about the fish lorry menace in Thokkottu-Ullal road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A Vamanjoor resident said that vehicle riders should be prohibited from using bright lights. DCP (Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashanth and DCP (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya were present.</p>
