<p>Five farmer families at Arasikere village in Tarikere taluk have decided to boycott the Lok Sabha election.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The elected representatives have failed to prevent the atrocities by the Forest Department officials on the farmers, said villager Vishukumar. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking to reporters, he said, “Five farmers have been carrying out farming activities on survey number 10, 11, 12, 13 and 19 at Arasikere. It is a revenue land with RTC documents. Farmers have availed loan by mortgaging the land. However, the Forest Department officials are troubling them in carrying out farming activities.” </p>.<p class="bodytext">“Farmer Jayanna cultivates arecanut on survey number 12. Two borewells sunk by him have failed. When he took up the work on laying the pipeline to draw water from a borewell situated on his friend’s land, the officials posed a hindrance and assaulted the earth mover driver,” he added.</p>
