<p>Heavy rain lashed several parts of Gadag, Ballari and Kalaburagi districts on Monday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In Gadag district, the rain cooled the rising temperature in Gadag, Mundargi towns and Dambal hobli. Thunder and lightening accompanied the rain in most parts of the district. Ron, Gajendragad and Nargund taluks received moderate rain.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The weather was cloudy in Gadag town since Monday morning. The moderate rain intensified by 2 pm. As a result, the sewage water overflowed on Venkatesh Theatre Road and Hatalageri Naka. The movement of vehicles was affected at Gandhi Circle, Old DC Office Circle, Jhenda Circle and Javulagalli area.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Electricity supply was disrupted in some parts of Gadag following the rain. There was no power supply in Vivekananda Layout, Bhomareddy Circle and Betageri areas of the town for more than three hours.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A tree was uprooted near St John’s School at Betageri. The rain has brought hopes to farmers who were worried over withering onion, chilli and other crops due to lack of rain in the district.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Jigalur, Savadi, Kothabal, Soodi Itagi and other villages received rain in Ron taluk. The rain cheered the people in Dambal hobli. They were happy as the rain has saved groundnut, sunflower and onion crops.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In Koppal district, the rain and thunderstorm have brought down several trees in Kushtagi taluk. The rain also decreased the increasing mercury level.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Heavy rain also lashed Hosapete town and surrounding areas in Ballari district. The downpour brought cheers to the people who were affected by the increasing temperature. Kalaburagi city, surrounding areas and Chincholi taluk also received rain.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Due to heavy rain, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy waited in his special chopper for some time at Kalaburagi Airport to get down from it. He saw the police personnel getting drenched in the rain and did not receive the ceremonial guard of honour.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Chincholi town, several villages in the taluk, including Chengata, Chimmanachod, Naranal, Dharmasagar and Inapur, also received the rain.</p>
