<p>Income Tax (I-T) department officials on Wednesday night raided the house of Chitradurga JD(S) candidate K C Veerendra and seized Rs 11.48 lakh from his possession.</p>.<p>The house, at Taralabalu on the outskirts of the city, was raided by members of the vigilance team of the Election Commission at 10 pm. At 12 am, I-T officials raided the place and the operation went on till 4 am.</p>.<p>Veerendra later told a press conference that he had declared in the affidavit submitted with the nomination papers that he had Rs 15 lakh in hand. Yet, a conspiracy was hatched for the raids, done without serving a warrant, so as to divert his attention from the election campaign.</p>
