<p>The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has served a show cause notice to Karnataka Chief Secretary, directed the CS to grant a compensation to a woman for her illegal detention by Mysuru South and Nanjangud Rural Police in 2017.Mysuru: </p>.<p>The commission had directed the government to issue a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the victim, following her human rights violation during her custody in the police station. The police had detained the woman in connection with a honey trap and dacoity case. Following the arrest, the police had allegedly subjected her to custodial torture, humiliation and had paraded her after removing her clothes.</p>.<p>The commission has also directed the Principal Secretary, Department of Home, for an unbiased investigation, considering the issue of false implication and illegal detention of the accused.</p>.<p>The NHRC has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to initiate departmental or legal action against the PSI for withdrawing Rs 5,000 from the account of the victim through her ATM card. The commission has also asked to submit the present status of departmental action initiated against the police constable under Rule 7 of the Karnataka Police Disciplinary Rules (Explanation) for his statement before the police enquiry regarding the withdrawal of Rs 5,000 on September 19, 2017.</p>.<p>The commission has directed the enquiry commission, constituted by the NHRC, to issue a show cause notice to the Chief Secretary, why monetary compensation of Rs 1 lakh has not been paid to the victim for outraging her dignity.</p>
