<p class="title">Mangaluru forest department personnel seized wood that was being transported illegally from Kodagu district. Two lorries have been seized as well.</p>.<p class="bodytext">More than the prescribed quantity of logs of the Palanji tree were being transported from a plantation belonging to Ponnappa in Nalluru village in Anekadu Reserve Forest in Kushalnagar.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A total of 66 logs were being transported in two lorries by timber merchant Mustafa, while the permit was obtained from the Kushalnagar forest department for transporting 46 logs.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The incident has given rise to a lot of speculation as the lorries were not stopped at the forest check-posts.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The action was taken by Mangaluru forest mobile team led by Purushottam.</p>.<p class="bodytext">It has been learnt that the team led by DCF Purushottam had carried out a discussion with the forest department officials of Kodagu, towards conducting an investigation into the case.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Anekadu DRFO had given the permit to transport wood. An investigation is being carried out on illegal transportation. Action will be taken against the wrongdoers, said Kushalnagar RFO Ananya Kumar.</p>
