Pro-Kannada activists, farmers' leader on Friday met with CM Siddaramaiah to demand distress formula solution amid the Cauvery water dispute and the ongoing bandh across the state. Activist Vatal Nagaraj and others along with him were detained by the Town Hall Police in Bengaluru during the Karnataka bandh protest although Nagaraj has said that the bandh has been successful. Normal life has been affected, especially in the southern part of the state. The BJP held a press conference where the saffron party said the Congress in the state has failed to present its case in front of the Cauvery dispute panel and if it continues, there will be no water left. ‘Kannada Okkuta’, an umbrella organisation for Kannada outfits including factions of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Kannada Chalavali (Vatal Paksha) and various farmers’ bodies have given the call for the statewide dawn-to-dusk shutdown.
