<p class="title">A comprehensive video documentation of Koraga life and culture was recently carried out by Regional Resources Centre for Folk Performing Arts, MAHE, at Bommarabettu village near Hiriyadka.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The documentation took palce in Koragara Koppa of Padubhaga Mane.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“It was a thorough documentation of the preparation of various baskets, and other domestic articles which Koragas prepare out of a certain kind of creeper available in forest area,” according to a press release issued by Coordinator Prof Varadesh Hiregange.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The team documented art and craft of the community. The process of preparing domestic articles like Hedige (Pudaayi), Gerase (thadpe), Kudpu, Thattikudpu and Perarpikuruve--different kinds of baskets and handicrafts woven by the Koraga community were documented.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Different stages of preparation -- from the beginning till the final product – called by different names such as Booru Keesunu, Booru Piresunu, Badi Kattuvudu (Aru Kattunu) - were also documented.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The culture of Koraga community, their belief system, rituals associated with birth, puberty, marriage, death etc., were also elaborately documented through conversation with the community members.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Vasu, Sampa, Pavithra, Ganesh, Manju, Gulabi, Gowri from the community participated in this process.</p>.<p class="bodytext">On behalf of Regional Resources Centre Folk Performing Arts, MAHE, Folk scholar K L Kundanthaya, Coordinator Prof Varadesh Hiregange, Lachendra and Miss Bharathi carried out the documentation process.</p>
