<p class="bodytext">The Karnataka High Court on Thursday will hear a habeas corpus petition filed by a desperate autorickshaw driver to secure his only son who has gone missing from October 8.</p>.<p class="bodytext">When Shivakumar’s attempts to track his 19-year-old son Vinayaka went in vain, he approached courts and later filed a habeas corpus petition in the high<br />court.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In the petition, he has expressed suspicion on the role of former sub-inspector (SI) Madan behind the disappearance of Vinayaka.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Madan had contested the Legislative Assembly election from Mangaluru South as an Independent after tendering resignation to the post of sub-inspector in Bajpe police station.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Vinayaka, a second-year student of Aeronautical Engineering at Karavali College, like many youths, had volunteered to be a part of the electioneering and help Madan win the elections. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Madan had persuaded Vinayaka to be part of the extensive election campaign and the boy worked for Madan for about seven months. But Madan faced a humiliating defeat in the hustings and lost his deposit.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to Vinayaka’s father, Madan had kept Vinayaka in his apartment in Bejai on the pretext of getting him a job, even after the electoral defeat.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Shivakumar, a native of Chikkamagaluru, has been staying in Mangaluru for past 20 years.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A resident of Shaktinagar, he said he has not received a single phone call from his son after his son’s disappearance.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“I have filed a complaint in Urwa police station on October 16,” he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The high court will begin its hearing into the habeas corpus petition from Thursday and has issued summons to Urwa police station sub-inspector Ravish and Madan.</p>
