Marathon to create awareness on election

The SVEEP Committee, Women and Child Welfare Department and CMC conducted a marathon and a tricycle rally at Gandhi Maidan in Madikeri to create awareness on voting.

Students, teachers, officials and representatives of various private organisations took part in the marathon.

SVEEP Committee Chairperson K Lakshmi Priya said that the list of voters has been displayed in all the 542 booths of the district. The voters should confirm their names being included in the list.

She meanwhile called upon all eligible voters to exercise their franchise on April 18.

“Voters are being educated by the SVEEP Committee on the use of the electronic voting machine and VVPAT,” Lakshmi Priya added.

She flagged off the marathon and a tricycle rally taken out by specially abled people.

Women and Child Welfare Department deputy director Arundhati and City Municipal Council commissioner M L Ramesh were present among others.
