<p class="bodytext">Demanding relaxation for local vehicles from paying the toll at Hejamady, members of various organisations and political parties had called for a bandh on Tuesday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The bandh received good response with all the merchants shutting down their business establishments at Mulki, Bappanadu, Vijaya College Road, Charanthi Pete, Karnadu and K S Rao Nagara.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The protesters carried out a padayatra from Mulki bus stand to the Hejamady toll on the occasion. The bandh had given an exemption for the sale of milk, petrol bunk, hospitals, and chemists.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Though autorickshaws have an exemption from paying the toll, the autorickshaw drivers supported the bandh to urge the NHAI to complete the work on the National Highway 66.</p>
