No knowledge of Lokayukta serving notice to me: B Z Zameer Ahmed

Mangaluru: Waqf Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed on Saturday said that he has no knowledge of Lokayukta serving notice to him.

As the media has been reporting on it the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out a raid against him in connection with a case of disproportionate assets.

Later, the ED transferred the issue to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for investigation, and the ACB has handed over the case to the Lokayukta for further probe.

“It's a routine notice. If I receive notice then I will have to appear before Lokayukta," Khan told media at Mangaluru International Airport.

Coming down heavily on Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s statement on whether those working on scrap shop and puncture repair shop will purchase Deve Gowda, Minister Zameer Ahmed clarified that he did not talk about purchasing Deve Gowda’s family.

“In fact, Kumaraswamy has said that he does not require votes from Muslims. In this background, I had said is it right to purchase votes by those who had claimed that they do not require Muslims votes. Kumaraswamy has spoken lightly on Muslims by claiming them as those who repair puncture and engaged in welding.”

“I have respect for the Okkaliga community. It was Adi Chunchanagiri Swamiji who motivated me to join JDS. I grew up in Adi Chunchanagiri mutt. I spend my Saturday in the mutt from morning till evening.”

To a query on Channapatna by election Congress candidate C P Yogeshwar who had said that the ‘Kariya’ statement by Zameer Ahmed will have an impact in the polls, the Waqf minister said, "I campaigned in Channapatna for three days. Yogeshwar will win with a margin of 18,000 to 20,000 votes.”
