<p>Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy on Thursday met Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara and discussed upgrading the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) in Mysuru to world standards. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Murthy is an alumnus of NIE and secured his electrical engineering degree from the institution in 1966, with the first rank.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to sources, Murthy has already donated Rs 7 crore to NIE, especially for developing the ‘School of Electrical Sciences’ at the institute.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking to reporters, Parameshwara, who also holds the Information Technology and Biotechnology, portfolio said Murthy has prepared a blueprint for lifting the premier engineering college to international standards.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Former Infosys Board member and director Srinath Batni, former India cricketer EAS Prasanna and Adichunchagiri Mutt seer Nirmalanandanatha Swami are among the alumni of NIE.</p>
