<p class="rtejustify">The 100-bed government hospital in Hosapete has been literally pushed to dark-age for the last four days; thanks to the power outage and breaking down of power back up.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">For the last four days the patients, their relatives and doctors are living through hell like condition.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">Since the beginning of summer, there has regular power disruption at the hospital. The generator, which was installed at the hospital, used to provide back up during all these days. However, for the last four days that has also broken down and none of the officials is in the mood to fix it!</p>.<p class="rtejustify">Patients and their relatives claim that there have been instances where doctors and nurses have treated patients using torches and candles in the night as there was no electricity. The worst affected by the power outage are the patients in Dialysis centre, maternity ward, emergency service, general ward and others.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">The power outage is also not sparing patients in operation theatre, neonatal wards, injury ward and others. Sources in the hospital blame the district administration and hospital officials for the prevailing situation.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">“It has been almost six days since I got admitted to this hospital and for the last four days, my treatment has been put forward as there is power disruption. Doctors say that even the generator is not working resulting in them not taking up my case,” said a patient who did not wish to be named. He also said that they are spending most of the night in darkness: without light and fan, he said.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">Another patient said that they have been made to wait for long hours at dialysis and scanning centre. The technicals warn us before performing dialysis that they would not be held responsible if something goes wrong while treatment, as the supply of electricity, is not in their hand. Patients in operation theatre can die if there is a sudden power breakdown while being operated, he said.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">The hospital, is a secondary treatment unit and poor patients from more than four taluks visit here for getting medical care. However, this being the situation their lives are at risk.</p>.<p class="rtejustify">Speaking to DH, Hospital Administrator Dr Bhagirathi said that since summer there has been regular power disruption and the generator burnt out due to this. The problem has emerged due to the delay in repair. We have asked the officials concerned to repair it at the earliest. “Soon it will be repaired,” she said.</p>
