<p class="title">The H D Kumaraswamy administration on Thursday tabled Supplementary Estimates to the tune of Rs 6,980 crore, of which almost two-thirds are for waiving crop loans in the cooperative sector and clearing pending bills of the Public Works Department.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The first instalment of Supplementary Estimates for the 2018-19 fiscal, tabled in the Legislative Assembly by Law Minister Krishna Byre Gowda in Kumaraswamy’s stead, also includes the expenditure of Rs 200 crore for drought relief measures.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Supplementary Estimates are additional expenditures incurred by the state government over and above the budget proposals for the financial year.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The government has a made a provision of Rs 2,600 crore to waive short-term loans borrowed by farmers from cooperative societies or banks. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had earmarked Rs 4,000 crore in his budget to pay off the balance of a cooperative crop loan waiver his predecessor Siddaramaiah had announced.</p>
