<p>Philatelists in and around Mangaluru will surely be delighted, for India Post has released a special cover depicting the Rosario Cathedral and an ornamental cancellation featuring ‘Rosary year’ emblem.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The attractive cover was released by India Post at a symbolic church celebration on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the cathedral. The cover has a splendid picture of the ‘Holy Rosary Cathedral’ a historical landmark of the city whose history goes back 450 years (1568-2018).</p>.<p class="bodytext">The cathedral, as it is seen in its present form, exists from 1915. A church has existed in this very same spot after the British established it’s trading base from 1800 AD and earmarked this spot for the Catholic Church.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The first ‘Rosario Church’ was set up by the Portuguese, not far from the South West corner of the Mangaladevi temple from which ‘Mangaluru’ derives its name.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The special cover is available for Rs 20 at the philatelic counter at the Head Post Office in Pandeshwar, stated a press release.</p>
