<p>Independent candidate A Sumalatha, on Saturday, replied to the show cause notice issued by the Deputy Commissioner, also the District Election Officer, N Manjushree.</p>.<p>The DC had issued the notice to Sumalatha for her alleged remarks against the deputy commissioner and other officials in connection with the election process.</p>.<p>In her reply, she has mentioned: “I did not target the officials personally and the statements are facts. ....Though my election agents had filed a written complaint about the mistakes in JD(S) candidate Nikhil’s nomination paper, you (Election Officer) have failed to take measures against it. On the contrary, you have approved the papers.You have issued the notice to hide the lapses and to divert people’s attention. Being a candidate, I have the right to issue statements. I have not committed any crime to take action under the Indian Penal Code Section 189.”</p>
