<p>The Forest Department has seized 2.5 kg of ivory worth Rs 75,000 in Kadanuru village near Virajpet and arrested two persons who were attempting to sell the ivory.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Poonaccha of Bollumadu village and Ganesh of Telugara Beedi are the arrested. Both were held when they were trying to sell ivory.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Ganesh had contacted jewellery merchants from Shivamogga to strike a trade deal of ivory, which was in possession of Poonaccha. The latter had purchased ivory through illegal means while he was working in a coffee plantation in Engilagere near Siddapura.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Poonaccha and Ganesh were remanded in judicial custody.</p>
