Women should not be confined to home: Judge

Senior Civil Judge Noorunnisa said women should live independently and should not be confined to the house.

She was speaking during the ‘National Girl Child Day’ programme organised by the Department of Women and Child Welfare, State Women Development Corporation, Child Development Programme and district Child Protection Unit, at Balakiyara Balamandira, recently.

“Atrocities on women and girl children are on the rise these days. During such times, women should not lose perspective, but, accept challenges to excel in her field,” she said.

The judge suggested that girl students take up competitive examinations.

Girls should take inspiration from the great achievers. The students should bring laurels to their educational institutions, she added.

Women and Child Welfare department deputy director Ningaraju called upon the parents to encourage girl students to go for higher studies.

Backward Classes Welfare Department extension officer Mallikarjun said there is a need to create an atmosphere for the education of girl children.

Prizes were distributed to the children who won the painting competition.

A rally was taken out on the occasion to create awareness.
