Law degree not needed anymore to become Supreme Court correspondent

In a significant move on Thursday, the administration of the apex court, under the stewardship of Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud, waived off the need for a law degree as a pre-requisite for accredition as an SC correspondent.

Reporters who aspire to become Supreme Court correspondents will no longer require a law degree.

According to a report by Bar and Bench, the administration of the apex court, under the stewardship of Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud, on Thursday waived off the need for a law degree as a pre-requisite for accredition as an SC correspondent.

Under the earlier norms, reporters aspiring to be Supreme Court correspondents needed a law degree under general circumstances, barring certain exceptions subject to approval by the CJI as per his discretion.
