<p>New Delhi: MV Shreyams Kumar of the <em>Mathrubhumi </em>has been elected as the president of he Indian Newspaper Society (INS) for the year 2024-25. The decision was taken at the 85th Annual General Meeting of the INS, an apex body of publishers of newspapers, magazines and periodicals, which was conducted through video-conferencing on Friday. </p><p>Shreyams succeeds Rakesh Sharma of <em>Aaj Samaj</em>, who was the president for the period of 2023-24. </p><p>Among the 41 members of the executive committee of the Society are KN Tilak Kumar, Joint Managing Director of <em>Deccan Herald</em> and <em>Prajavani</em>, Viveck Goenka of <em>The Indian Express</em>, Atideb Sarkar of <em>The Telegraph</em>, and Praveen Someshwar of <em>The Hindustan Times</em>. </p><p>Vivek Gupta of <em>Sanmarg</em> has been elected as the deputy president, Karan Rajendra Darda of <em>Lokmat</em> as the vice-president and Tanmay Maheshwari of <em>Amar Ujala </em>has been elected as the honorary treasurer for this term. Mary Paul will be the General Secretary of the society. </p>
