TMC MP Mahua Moitra files complaint against SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch with Lokpal

'My LokPal complaint against Ms. Puri-Buch been filed electronically & in physical form. LokPal must within 30 days refer it to CBI/ED for a preliminary investigation and then a full FIR enquiry. Every single entity involved needs to be summoned & every link investigated,' the TMC leader said.

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Friday said she has submitted a complaint against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, who is facing charges of conflict of interest, with the Lokpal while urging the anti-corruption ombudsman to forward it to a central investigation agency for preliminary probe followed by a "full FIR enquiry".

Sharing a screenshot of submission of both the online complaint and the physical copy on 'X', she said, "My Lokpal complaint against Ms Puri-Buch has been filed electronically and in physical form. Lokpal must within 30 days refer it to CBI/ED for a preliminary investigation and then a full FIR enquiry. Every single entity involved needs to be summoned and every link investigated."

Her remarks came on a day the SEBI chairperson denied the allegations against her and said she had made all necessary disclosures and complied with recusal guidelines in dealing with companies such as Mahindra Group that hired her husband. Buch rejected allegations of impropriety as "false, malicious and motivated".

The statement, also signed by her husband, said Buch never handled files involving the Mahindra Group, Pidilite Industries, Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd, Alvarez and Marsal, and Sembcorp -- the firms that had employed her husband during her stint at Sebi -- as also that pertaining to her previous employer ICICI Bank at any stage after joining the regulator.

Congress had earlier claimed that she had 99 per cent stake in a firm that provided consultancy services to Mahindra and Mahindra Group and her husband received Rs 4.78 crore as income from the conglomerate while it was under the scanner of the regulatory body. It had also accused her of conflict of interest, claiming that she continued to hold an office of profit at the ICICI Bank even after taking over as a member of the regulatory body seven years ago.
