<p class="title">The Supreme Court on Monday provisionally allowed candidates, who are above upper age limit of 25 years, to appear in the IIT-JEE main and advanced examinations 2019.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjiv Khanna agreed to consider a writ petition filed by A Balasubramanian and others for consideration along with a pending petition, challenging the validity of the upper-age limit in NEET for admission to MBBS course.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“The petitioners/candidates who are 25 years of age and above shall be entitled to apply and appear in the JEE-Main 2019 and JEE-Advanced 2019 examinations. If they are allowed to appear in the said examinations, they shall take the examinations provisionally subject to the final outcome of these matters,” the bench said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The court directed the National Testing Agency to keep its portal open for a week to enable candidates to apply for the JEE-Main 2019 and JEE-Advanced 2019.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The court issued notice to the Union government and the National Testing Agency on the petition.</p>.<p class="bodytext">It tagged the instant petition along with a petition filed by Jalaludheen T and over 170 others, challenging the upper-age limit of 25 years for general category and 30 years for the candidates, belonging to the SC/ST category for appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS and BDS courses across the country.</p>
