<p>Chennai: Power tariff for different sections of consumers was revised in <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tamil-nadu-india">Tamil Nadu</a> on Monday and this was part of the measures to offset the mounting financial losses incurred over the years, the state-run discom TANGEDCO said.</p><p>The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has effected a "small" revision, TANGEDCO said in a release.</p><p>According to the revised tariff, the increase for domestic consumers is between Rs 5 and Rs 40 for different categories, the release from Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) said.</p>.Delhi BJP stages protests outside discom offices over power tariff 'hike'.<p>The free power up to 100 units for all domestic consumers and subsidy for those including handlooms, agriculture and places of worship will continue.</p><p>For 63 lakh domestic consumers using up to 200 units for two months, the increase will be a maximum of Rs five per month, it said.</p><p>The new tariff for 35 lakh domestic users consuming up to 300 units for two months will be a maximum of Rs 15 per month.</p><p>The revised tariff for domestic consumers consuming 400 units and 500 units for two months will be Rs 25 and Rs 40 per month, respectively.</p>.<p>For low and high transmission industries, the tariff was being revised to 35 paise per unit, it said.</p><p>Opposition parties including the Pattali Makkal Katchi and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam opposed the tariff revision.</p>
