Fire erupts in commercial building in Lucknow

Lucknow: A fire broke out in a commercial building here on the busy Latouche Road in Kaiserbagh area Thursday morning. No casualties have so far been reported, officials said.

The fire broke out around 10 am in a commercial building that has shops and godowns, they said.

"No one is trapped inside as the fire erupted in the morning, " Chief Fire Officer, Lucknow, Mangesh Kumar told PTI.

He said that efforts are on by the fire department teams to douse the flames.

Shanti Jaiswal, resident of the building said while talking to PTI said, "We saw the fire around 9:30 am. There were 7-8 people in the house and no kids as they had gone to the school."

She confirmed that no one is trapped inside.

After the fire, shops closed in the area. There was not much crowd as most of the market is closed on Thursdays. Traffic on the busy Charbagh-Kaiserbagh road has been diverted through Shivaji Marg and Bansmandi crossing, the police said.

Latouche Road, also known as Gautam Buddha Road, is a hub of commercial activities.
