Witness in Franco case pressured to move to Vijayawada

A nun who is a key witness in the rape case against the former bishop of Jalandhar Franco Mulakkal has been asked by church authorities to move to Vijayawada.

Sister Lizi Vadakeyil, who recently came out in the open alleging that the she was facing torture from the church authorities, was directed by the authorities to strictly comply with an order issued to her recently transferring from the Muvattupuzha convent in Ernakulam district to Vijayawada.

A fresh letter issued by the congregation said that she should move to Vijayawada before March 31.

Sister Lizi is a key witness in the rape case againt Franco. The nun who was allegedly raped by Franco had earlier told Lizi about the incidents much earlier.

Sister Lizi recently alleged that she was being tortured by the church authorities after they came to know that she gave statement against Franco.

Apart from transferring her, the convent authorities even denied her permission to visit her sick mother.
