BGT 2024-2025: Kohli continues net practice despite heavy rains in Perth ahead of 1st Test, netizens react

In the midst of all the mounting pressure on Team India, Virat Kohli became the talk of the town for netizens after the 36-year-old reportedly continued his practice session at the nets despite heavy rains in Perth, ahead of the 1st test match against the Aussies.

After suffering a humiliating 0-3 defeat against New Zealand, which also marked their first-ever whitewash in a three-match home Test series, the Indian cricket team will look to redeem themselves in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).

All eyes are at the Optus Stadium in Perth, where the 1st Test match of the series betweein India and Australia is scheduled to take place from November 22 to 26.

With the absence of Shubman Gill and skipper Rohit Sharma all but confirmed, a lion's share of the burden of India's batting line-up will fall on the shoulders of Virat Kohli, who himself is in a rough patch of form going by his recent struggles with the bat.

According to an X post by journalist and author Bharat Sundaresan, Kohli was reluctant to leave the pitch during the India batters' net practice in Perth, even as heavy rains disrupted their session

"Looks even more like this is the top 6 based on how they went in the nets before rain halted practice. Virat Kohli wasn’t keen to stop batting even as the rain got heavier before he had no option but to run off with the rest of the team #AusvInd," Sundaresan said.

He also predicted that India's top order for the opening test may comprise of Devdutt Padikkal, K L Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Dhruv Jurel.

"The slip cordon for India currently, Padikkal at first slip, Virat second, Rahul third slip, Jaiswal at gully while Dhruv Jurel is taking catches at silly-point. That should be the top 6 for the first Test? #AusvInd," he wrote in another post on X.

People on social media were quick to praise Kohli for his commitment and willingness at the nets.
