US Elections Results LIVE | Trump win casts fresh doubts over Wall Street's China strategy
Hello dear readers! Donald Trump on Wednesday won the US presidency for a second term in one of the greatest political comebacks, cruising past his Democratic rival Kamala Harris. The Republican leader cleared the 270 electoral votes needed to clinch the presidency by securing a victory in the key battleground state of Wisconsin. According to AP, Trump secured 277 electoral votes as against Harris's 224, making the stage set for his comeback to the White House. World leaders raced to congratulate Donald Trump on his win. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated his 'friend' calling it a "historic election victory". President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the other hand, said he hoped his presidency would bring "just peace in Ukraine closer". Netanyahu called Trump's win "history's greatest comeback". US Presidential Debate Highlights: Trump claims Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are 'eating the pets' of Americans
Republican Donald Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris immediately went on the offensive in the opening segment of their first presidential debate on Tuesday, each seeking a campaign-altering moment in their closely fought election. Harris, 59, attacked Trump's intention to impose high tariffs on foreign goods - a proposal she has likened to a sales tax on the middle class - while touting her plan to offer tax benefits to families and small businesses. Trump, 78, criticized Harris for the persistent inflation during the Biden administration's term, though he overstated the level of price increases. He also pivoted quickly to his top issue, immigration, claiming again without evidence that immigrants from "insane asylums" are crossing the U.S. southern border with Mexico.
