Sources said the 11 Kuki men, who were earlier arrested by Manipur Police and were put in Imphal jail, were transferred to Kuki-dominated Kangpokpi district as demanded by the abductors. Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum, a forum of Kuki organisations in Churachandpur, confirmed the development.

The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) and Kuki Inpi, Manipur, forums of Kuki-Zo organisations, said that Metiei radical armed group like Arambai Tenggol is likely to take advantage of the "security inputs" shared by Manipur government about possible attacks by 900 Kuki insurgents on September 28 to launch attacks the Kuki-Zo people.
