Seer endorses govt’s move to drop Veerashaiva word from Basavanna’s lesson

In a letter to the chief minister, the seer said, 'Basavanna was a social reformer and rationalist. He defied caste system and vedic ritual and strove for an egalitarian society. It is unfair to tie him down to the Shaiva-Veerashaiva sect which believed in vedic rituals.'

Tontada seer laid to rest; Siddarama Swami successor

Dr Siddalinga Swami of Tontadarya Mutt, who passed away in sleep, was laid to rest at the Mutt premises on Sunday. Final rites were performed as per the Lingayat faith, while the funeral took place with full state honours. Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Swami of Anandapura Mutt, Shivamogga, led the rituals.

Siddarama Swami anointed pontiff of Tontadarya Mutt

Siddarama Swami of Naganuru Rudrakshi Mutt was anointed as the 20th pontiff of Tontadarya Mutt in a ceremony, held under the guidance of Gurusidda Rajayogindra Swami of Moorusavira Mutt, at the mutt premises here on Monday.
