German company launches 'digital condom': All you need to know about 'Camdom App'

A German company named Billy Boy has launched a digital condom app that lets users stay safe digitally during intimate moments.

Billy Boy, a German condom brand and Innocean Berlin have collaborated to launch the 'Camdom App'.

The app promises to protect users from recording of non-consensual content by blocking recording features on phones with the app.

The users have to place their phones side by side and swipe down a virtual button that blocks the camera and microphones on the phones.

If one of the two tries to sneak out, an alarm goes off, alerting the other person in the room.

The app will let the user know there is a potential threat and that the act might be getting recorded.

Camdom aims at bringing down and protecting private content that can be leaked and spread through online platforms easily. The app's description reads, 'Camdom by Billy Boy, was designed to protect the digital generation during sex from their devices.'

Labelling it a digital condom, the app assures users it will block anyone from taking pictures, filming, or recording audio without user consent.

Camdom can simultaneously block multiple devices at once.

According to 'Ads of the World', Camdom app developer Felipe Almeida said that in today's generation, mobile phones are an extension of human body and people tend to store sensitive content on their devices.

"In order to protect you from the recording of non-consensual content, we've created the first app that can block your camera and mic simply through the use of Bluetooth," Almeida said.

The app also targets the younger generation as its audience.

The Camdom app is available on Android and the company plans on launching it soon on iOS.
