Broad strokes now, details to follow for South Africa's new coalition
The African National Congress (ANC) lost its majority in a May election for the first time since the end of apartheid 30 years ago, forcing it to form an alliance to continue governing and pitching South Africa into uncharted political territory.
This is, for me, the most surprising aspect of the framework agreement said to have been reached between ANC, DA, IFP etc. It means cabinet decisions require both ANC and DA to agree. Makes it impossible for DA or ANC to push through policies against will of the other party. pic.twitter.com/wLCwmCHmsS
