Work is underway to repair the 133 year old Hammersmith Bridge over the River Thames in west London. Hammersmith Bridge opened to the public 133 years ago during the reign of Queen Victoria and was originally designed to carry horse-drawn carts. The bridge was closed to traffic in April 2019 because of fractures in its cast iron structure.
