Veteran CPM leader and former Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan has said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi has lost the strength of his spine and legs as the Lok Sabha election approached.

Achuthanandan, who had earlier called Rahul an Amul Baby, on Monday, said that he still stuck to his impression that Rahul was an Amul Baby as he did not know the pulse of Indian politics. He also called Rahul a refugee for coming down to Kerala for contesting Lok Sabha election. Rahul was cutting the branch he was sitting, said Achuthanandan.

During 2011 election campaign in Kerala, Rahul Gandhi ridiculed the veteran CPM leader in his nineties by his age. Mr Achuthanandan then hit back by calling him Amul Baby.

Meanwhile, Rahul is planning to file nomination at Wayanad constituency in Kerala by Thursday, which is the last day for filing the nomination.

Congress sources said that as per the tentative plans, Rahul will reach Kozhikode district by Wednesday evening and from there he would go to Wayanad on Thursday. Priyanka Gandhi may also accompany him. He may also address a public meeting at the constituency marking the launch of his campaign.

Senior Congress leaders will be meeting in Kozhikode on Tuesday and Wednesday to finalise Rahul's campaign plans in Wayanad constituency as well as other parts of Kerala.
