New Delhi, DHNS: Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress on Monday for its 'anti-Dalit' stance, and said it insulted Dalit leaders like Kumari Selja.
"The Congress is an anti-Dalit party. It always insulted Dalit leaders, be it Ashok Tanwar or sister Kumari Selja," Shah said at a rally at Haryana’s Tohana.
He said before this, the Congress also sidelined Ashok Tanwar, a prominent Youth Congress leader who left the party to join the BJP, and belongs to the Dalit community.
Selja has reportedly been unhappy with the lack of support from the Congress leadership and has not been seen publicly in rallies. Reports have emerged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has stepped in to pacify her, who was angry that most of the shots have been called by party veteran Bhupinder Hooda.
Shah also took on Gandhi for comments that the BJP has labelled as 'anti-reservation'. "If there is anybody who can protect the Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Class reservations, it is PM Modi," he said.
"Haryana has become free from corruption and hooliganism and is rapidly progressing on the path of development," Shah added.
Elections to the 90-member Haryana assembly are scheduled for October 5.
