Senior Congress leader H K Patil, on Friday, tendered his resignation from the post of KPCC campaign committee chairman owning up moral responsibility for the party’s defeat in the Lok Sabha polls.
“As a president of the KPCC campaign committee, I had the privilege to take the polities and message of my esteemed party to the people. In view of the debacle, I feel it is my moral duty to own up responsibility. Hence, with all humility, I submit my resignation from the post,” Patil stated in a letter to AICC president Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress-JD(S) alliance received a severe drubbing in Karnataka as the BJP won 25 of the 28 seats.
