Hubballi: Former MLA Sayed Azeempeer Khadri of Congress on Wednesday will withdraw his nomination as an independent in Shiggaon by-elections.
Accompanied by Housing Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan, Khadri returned from Bengaluru on Tuesday night, and he told reporters in Hubballi that he would withdraw his nomination and work to for the part's victory.
"Chief minister, deputy chief minister and other leaders spoke to me. I will withdraw nomination and work for the victory of the Congress candidate. I have also spoken to our workers who had pressurised me to contest," he added.
Zameer Ahmed Khan stated that CM and DyCM have convinced Khadri who is a loyal Congressman and he is withdrawing the nomination on Wednesday.
On wakf properties
Regarding the row over wakf properties, Zameer Ahmed Khan said wakf properties are being protected as per rules, and unrelated properties including farmers' lands would not be claimed as wakf properties.
BJP leaders are playing politics over this issue, and notices related wakf properties were issued even when BJP was in power, he added.
