Nearly 70% voter turnout an hour before deadline in Adampur bypoll

A turnout of nearly 70 per cent was recorded an hour before deadline in Haryana's Adampur Assembly segment where by-elections are underway on Thursday, data showed.

The outcome of thebypollwill decide if the Bhajan Lal family will retain the family bastion of five decades.

Polling began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.Nearly 1.71 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes. Counting of votes will be taken up on November 6. (PTI)

Dhamnagar bypoll : 52.13 per cent votes polled, BJP alleges rigging

A total 52.13 per cent votes were cast till 3 pm in the Dhamnagar assemblyby-pollin Odisha till 3 pm on Thursday, an Election Commission official said. Despite the strict security for the day, polling was marred by clashes between ruling BJD and opposition BJP and allegations of rigging were brought by the saffron party. There were reports of clashes between BJD and BJP workers in polling booths 169 and 170 at Rameswarpur in the constituency while voting was on and two persons were injured. (PTI)

More than 45 per cent voter turnout recorded till 3 pm

An average voter turnout of 45.60 per cent was recorded till 3 pm Thursday in the by-elections to seven assembly constituencies underway in six states, including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

The polling is being held in Mokama and Gopalganj assembly constituencies of Bihar, Andheri (East) of Maharashtra, Adampur of Haryana, Munugode of Telangana, Gola Gokarannath of Uttar Pradesh, and Dhamnagar of Odisha. (PTI)

42.55% voter turnout recorded till 3 pm in Bihar bypolls

A voter turnout of 42.55 per cent was recorded till 3 pm in Mokama and Gopalganj assembly constituencies in Bihar where polling was underway for by-elections on Thursday, officials said.

While Mokama recorded 42.44 per cent voter turnout, Gopalganj saw 42.65 per cent turnout till 3 pm, they said.

Thebypollsto the two seats are the first election in the state after the formation of the 'Mahagthabandhan' government around three months back. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the de-facto leader of the JD(U), dumped the BJP and formed a new coalition government with the RJD, Congress and Left parties in early August.

The polling began at 7 am, and will continue till 6 pm, election officials said.(PTI)

A voter turnout of over 33 per cent has been recorded in the first six hours of polling in the Gola Gokarannath assembly constituency of Uttar Pradesh where bypolls are underway on Thursday. Accusations by the Samajwadi Party of BJP capturing polling booths appear to be unfounded withDistrict Magistrate Mahendra Bahadur Singh saying he personally visited the booths and found nothing wrong.(PTI)

Bihar bypolls: 31.90% voter turnout recorded till 1 pm

A voter turnout of 31.90 per cent was recorded till 1 pm in Mokama and Gopalganj assembly constituencies in Bihar where polling was underway for by-elections on Thursday, officials said.

While Mokama recorded 34.26 per cent voter turnout, Gopalganj saw 29.90 per cent turnout till 1 pm, they said.(PTI)

Telangana BJP president arrested on way to Munugode, now released

Telangana state BJP president Bandi Sanjay was detained by police on the outskirts of Hyderabad early Thursday, when he was heading to Munugode Assembly constituency where polling began this morning, IANSreported. He has now been released.

Alleging that non-local leaders of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were continuing to stay in the constituency even after campaigning ended on Tuesday, he, along with his supporters, tried to proceed towards the constituency in Nalgonda district this morning.

Polling began on Thursday morning for by-elections to the Mokama and Gopalganj assembly constituencies in Bihar under tight security, officials said.

Theby-pollsto the two seats are the first election in the state after the formation of the 'Mahagthabandhan' government around three months back. Polling begins for Dhamnagar by-election in Odisha

Polling began on Thursday morning for by-election to the Dhamnagar assembly constituency in Odisha amid tight security, officials said.

The voting began in all the 252 polling stations of the constituency in Bhadrak district at 7 am, and will continue till 6 pm, they said.

A total of 2.38 lakh voters -- 1.23 lakh males and 1.15 lakh females -- are eligible to exercise their franchise in this election.

The rural constituency usually records around 70 per cent voter turn out. In the 2019 assembly election, 72.64 per cent of voters cast their votes, while it was 73.46 per cent in 2014.
