Patidar quota stir leader Hardik Patel will continue with his indefinite fast from August 25 despite not receiving official permission from the state government.
Hardik has been trying to get official permission for a venue to undertake his fast in Ahmedabad, however, the local administration failed to give him a firm commitment. He, therefore, sought to shift his venue to Satyagrah Chhavni in Gandhinagar. When he did not get a favourable response to that too, he decided to sit on fast at his home.
“No one can stop me from sitting on an indefinite fast,” Hardik said, adding that the government may even go to the extent of arresting him in an old legal case.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress came out in support of Hardik’s demand for permission, with 21 sitting legislators belonging to Congress party met up with deputy chief minister Nitin Patel. A group of these legislators also met Hardik to extend their support to the cause.
