After the house of a man who allegedly indulged in violence in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district during a protest was demolished, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra spoke out against BJP's brand of 'bulldozer justice'.
In a post in Hindi on X, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, "If someone is accused of a crime, then only the court can decide his crime and punishment.
"But punishing the family of the accused as soon as the allegation is made, taking away the roof from their heads, not following the law, disobeying the court, and demolishing the house of the accused as soon as the allegation is made - this is not justice," she said.
This is the height of barbarism and injustice. There should be a difference between the lawmakers, the law keepers and the lawbreakers, she stressed, adding that governments cannot behave like criminals.
Following the law, Constitution, democracy and humanity are the minimum conditions of governance in a civilised society, Priyanka Gandhi said.
"One who cannot fulfil 'rajdharma' can neither work for the welfare of the society nor the country. Bulldozer justice is completely unacceptable, it must stop," she said.
Lashing out at BJP spreading misinformation to stem any opposition to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, AAP Leader Sanjay Singh said, "The BJP is spreading misinformation across the country. There are two or three false claims being made about the Waqf Board that have no basis. They are spreading the idea that the tribunal's decisions cannot be challenged, which is incorrect. Legal battles can be fought in the High Court and the Supreme Court despite the tribunal's decisions. They said they would include women members, but women have been part of the Waqf Board from the beginning... This is a 'divide and rule' bill. This is about seizing Waqf land and giving it to PM Modi's friends. This is against the Constitution of India, and people of all castes and religions oppose it."
Minister Girish Mahajan says, "Tomorrow PM Modi will be arriving in Jalgaon for the first time after assuming charge as PM for the third time...Almost 1.5 lakh 'Lakhpati Didi' will be attending the program...PM Modi will be interacting with them..."
BJP is saying they will conduct a caste census and include an OBC section. The first thing is that just mentioning OBC in the caste census isn't enough. There are different communities, and we want a list of all of them. For us, this isn't just about a census; it's the foundation for policy-making. I want to make it clear that we're not just talking about a caste census. The caste census will provide information about the population, which is a crucial step because understanding population is necessary before ensuring participation. However, knowing the population is not the final step. My vision is to understand how wealth is distributed in India.Congress MP Rahul Gandhi while addressing the 'Samvidhan Samman Sammelan' held at Allahabad Medical Association Convention and Rehabilitation Centre
